Who is Raman Dalithando Dlamini? Doja Cat’s brother accused of abusing her

Meet US singer and rapper Doja Cat’s brother, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, who allegedly knocked her teeth out.

The brother of American musician Doja Cat is in the spotlight for abuse allegations levelled against him by their mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer.

Raman Dalithando Dlamini is accused of physically attacking the Woman hitmaker, with the singer losing her teeth in one incident – TMZ reports.

The US outlet reports that Sawyer has filed for a temporary restraining order against her son, stating that Doja Cat – whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – also needs to be protected from him.

According to the legal documents, Sawyer alleged that Raman gave his sister cuts and bruises. She added that he also knocked out her teeth and damaged or stole some of her property. Doja Cat’s mother, who is a painter and a clothing designer, claimed her son is verbally abusive towards the 28-year-old award-winning singer and rapper in a “very degrading and demeaning”.

Raman is accused of being physically abusive towards the Paint The Town Red hitmaker multiple times in the past year. The most recent incident occurred in early January, as reported by Sawyer.

The documents reveal that this is not the first time Sawyer has sought protection from her son, as she had temporary restraining orders against him since 2017, which have since expired.

Raman and Doja Cat are two years apart and were raised by their mother.

Doja Cat revealed in a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone magazine that she and her brother were one of the few mixed-race children in their neighbourhood and experienced racism.

The siblings, who have Zulu ancestry, are also the children of South African actor and dancer, Dumisani Dlamini.

The Durban-born former Isibaya star met Sawyer in New York while he was performing in Sarafina! on Broadway, and they had a short-lived relationship.

When asked about Dlamini during an interview with Radio One D.C., the Say So singer shared that she has never met him.

“He’s an incredible dancer and a great actor, But yeah, I don’t know him very well,” she said.
