In a touching tribute, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes star Tom Blyth honoured his predecessor, Donald Sutherland.

The Hollywood icon is known for his masterful portrayal of President Snow in The Hunger Games franchise. He passed away at the age of 88.

DONALD SUTHERLAND’S CAREER

His son, Kiefer Sutherland, announced the sad news, revealing that his father succumbed to a long illness.

Donald Sutherland’s career spanned over six decades, according to Daily Mail.

He earned acclaim for roles in films such as MAS*H, Klute, and the 1970s horror classic Don’t Look Now.

Yet, his portrayal of the tyrannical President Snow renewed his fame among younger audiences.

Tom Blyth stepped into the shoes of a young President Snow in the 2023 prequel. He took to Instagram to express his admiration.

“Donald Sutherland came about as close to mastering the craft of acting as anyone gets.

So many genius performances,” Blyth wrote.

He posted two pictures of Sutherland. One of the pictures was in character, with the song Snow Lands On Top by James Newton Howard playing in the background.

Blyth continued, “I never had the honour of knowing him personally, but it was the honour of a lifetime to follow in his footsteps.

Thank you, sir, for birthing one of the great movie characters of all time.”

DONALD SUTHERLAND’S FANS MOURN

Fans and co-stars alike echoed Blyth’s sentiments.
