Sadio Mané speaks for the first time since marrying 18-year-old bride

Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player Sadio Mane married his 18-year-old bride, Aisha Tamba, in a private ceremony in Senegal.

Al Nassr winger Sadio Mane has spoken out for the first time since tying the knot with his 18-year-old bride, Aisha Tamba.

SADIO MANE IS A HAPPY, MARRIED MAN

The Senegalese football star, who is 31 years old, was speaking ahead of their departure to Ivory Coast where they will be defending their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title as the tournament commences on 13 January.

“Honestly, I am happy [with] the fact the president has congratulated me just as much as, well, I would say not just my team-mates,” he said.

“I think that all the people have congratulated me and wished me [luck] so I am happy and I hope that it’ll be okay,” The Sun quoted him as saying.

Mane laughed off Senegal president Macky Sally’s jokes about his marriage.

“First of all, I would like to warmly congratulate our national Nianthi, Sadio Mane, who has just got married,” Sall said

“I called him up so that we could applaud him and wish him a happy marriage.

“May God bless your home and your descendants. From now on you have another job apart from scoring goals.”

HOW THE COUPLE MET

The former Liverpool star tied the knot with Aisha in a private ceremony that took place in Keur Massar, a district in Senegal’s capital city, Dakar, on 7 January.

The couple met when Aisha was 16, through Mane’s agent who was friends with Aisha’s father, Amadou Tamba.

According to Mane’s father-in-law, the newly wedded couple did not date after being introduced because his daughter was too young.
