King Charles III is back at work for the first time since announcing his cancer diagnosis.

KING CHARLES IS BACK AT WORK

The Monarch was seen meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday, 21 February at Buckingham Palace. Rishi and King Charles meeting marked the resumption of their weekly encounters to discuss government matters.

Despite putting a pause public engagements while undergoing treatment for his unspecified cancer diagnosis, King Charles is continuing with his duties as head of state.

“We’re all behind you. The country is all behind you”, Sunak said, according to PA Media.

Tow which King Charles replied: “I’ve had so many wonderful messages and cards. It’s reduced me to tears most of the time”.

‘HE REMAINS WHOLLY POSITIVE’

As per CNN, Rishi and King Charles also went on to discuss how the King’s illness had shone a spotlight on cancer charities, with the King describing such organizations as “wonderful.”

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” Buckingham Palace shared in a statement at the time of the announcement.

The statement also noted that King Charles remains “wholly positive” about his cancer treatment.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible”.

On Saturday, 10 February Buckingham Palace shared a statement in which the 75-year-old monarch expressed his gratitude to all the well-wishes he has received in the wake of his cancer diagnosis.

“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days. As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement”, the statement noted.
