This development unfolded against the backdrop of online debates sparked by the search for a replacement for Majors, who was removed from the MCU following a conviction related to a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend. Boyega’s involvement in the debate intensified when he shared a photo last month, featuring himself alongside Anthony Mackie, MCU’s Captain America.

As fans speculated about the potential casting of Boyega as Kang, the actor clarified his stance, emphasizing that he has no intention of replacing Jonathan Majors, not now and not in the future within any superhero franchise.

This revelation aligns with Boyega’s previous sentiments expressed in August 2022 during an interview with Men’s Health, where he underscored his desire to engage in nuanced projects and contribute to original indie films with fresh ideas, steering clear of the blockbuster superhero realm. He said to the publication, “that’s not in the vision for me now, I want to do nuanced things. I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top Iron Man in that universe.”

Interestingly, amidst the discussions surrounding Majors’ removal from the MCU due to his conviction, John Boyega neither supported nor condemned the verdict. Instead, the actor maintained a neutral stance on the matter, allowing fans and critics to draw their own conclusions.

His decision to decline from expressing a clear opinion on Majors’ legal issues may reflect his inclination to keep the focus on his own projects.

John Boyega’s recent comments also show that he is still not over the treatment of his character in the Star Wars trilogy. He expressed frustration with Disney for allegedly sidelining a Black character after marketing them as pivotal to the franchise.
