Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is celebrating 25 years of being “sober and clean” in her sobriety journey.

JAMIE LEE CURTIS CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF BEING SOBER

In a post to Instagram the Oscar winning actress shared a black and white picture of herself holding up a silver ring with her initials. The sobriety ring also has the words “Twenty Five”, spelled out.

“25 years clean and sober. One day at a time. 9,125 of them”, Jamie Lee Curtis captioned her post.

She continued: “What’s inside, as my old friend Adam sang, is a sense of calm, serenity, purpose and the greatest feeling that I am not alone. That many others share the same disease and solution”.

“For all those struggling with addiction and shame, there are others out here who care. My hand in yours. Our hands in yours”, Jamie Lee emphasised.

GETTING HELP

Throughout the years the actress has been very vocal and open about her struggles with substance abuse. In 2019, Jamie Lee Curtis spoke with Variety magazine about her history with opioid abuse.

In the interview she shared that she first got addicted to opioids after she had routine plastic surgery to remove puffiness from her eyes.

“They gave me Vicodin as a painkiller for something that wasn’t really painfulsh”, the actress said at the time.

She also opened up about how she kept her addiction a secret for some time and was able to work in spite of it, however Jamie ultimately decided to seek treatment after reading an article in Esquire about writer Tom Chiarella’s addiction to painkillers titled, “Vicodin, My Vicodin”.
