‘It’s incredible’: Premier League star on his favourite SA meal, speaking Afrikaans

Premier League player Morgan Gibbs-White says his South African girlfriend has been teaching him Afrikaans too.

Morgan Gibbs-White, who is an attacking midfielder for Premier League side Nottingham Forest, made quite the revelation when he shared what his favourite South Africa’s meal is.

WHAT FUELS MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE’S PREMIER LEAGUE PERFORMANCE

The 23-year-old player was speaking during an interview posted by SuperSport TV when he revealed that his South African girlfriend introduced him to Mzansi mielie meal.

“She [Gibbs-White’s girlfriend] makes a porridge called Mielie Meal, and that is my favourite. Like, she says normally you have it for breakfast, but I like it for a supper or after dinner, as like a little dessert. It’s nice, it’s incredible,” says the footballer.

LEARNING AFRIKAANS

Gibbs-White’s, who is a former Wolves player and also plays for England’s under-23 national team, is in a relationship with content creator, model and Law graduate, Britney de Villiers. The couple have been together for seven years and welcomed their first baby together in November last year.

Apart from enjoying SA’s famous maize meal porridge, the soccer star said that De Villiers also teaches him Afrikaans. However, he says most of the words are expletives.

“My girlfriend speaks fluent Afrikaans and the only words she’s taught me are bad words that I can’t repeat on here,” says The Garibaldi star.
