NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The Soul Train Awards sheds light on the best artists and creatives in soul, R&B and hip hop. In addition to this the awards also aims to recognise the next generation of artists.

The 2023 nominees for the awards were selected by a voting academy of esteemed music industry professionals.

“Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop continue to top the charts and drive culture forward. This year, we are taking inspiration from these genres to innovate and disrupt the award show format while celebrating the legacy of Soul Train. BEST NEW ARTIST NOMINATION FOR TYLA

Breakout star Tyla makes waves with her first BET Soul Train nomination.

The Water hitmaker will go head-to-head with Nigerian songstress Ayra Starr, America’s Ambré, Doechii, Flo, Coco Jones, Fridayy and Wanmor for the Best New Artist award. This nomination for Tyla comes as no surprise! The artist has recently been featured as a guest on the award-winning The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she performed her hit single Water.

In addition to this Tyla continues to top the Billboard charts, making history as the first solo South African artist enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years since Hugh Masekela did it.

Tyla has also recently collaborated with RnB sensation Summer Walker on her Girls Need Love remix.
