‘Hit the dusty trail’: Kevin Costner’s wife files for divorce

After nearly 19 years of marriage, the Yellowstone actor Kevin Costner is set to “hit the dusty trail” after his wife, Christine Baumgartner, reportedly filed for divorce, MailOnline reports.

KEVIN COSTNER’S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE

After a failed first marriage due to an affair, Yellowstone star Kevin Costner is reportedly getting divorced again. This after his wife, Christine Baumgartner, allegedly gave him an ultimatum to quit working on the Yellowstone series as his busy filming schedule negatively impacts their family life.

According to MailOnline, the actor’s second wife, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” and is asking for joint custody of the couple’s three children, Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12. 

Kevin and Christine tied the knot in 2004, and she reportedly filed for divorce on Monday.

Reports indicate that Christine asked Kevin to cut back on filming, claiming that his busy film schedules negatively impact their family life.

A friend of hers told Radar Christine gave Kevin an ultimatum in October to quit the popular neo-Western show Yellowstone, as he would spend months away from the family when shooting in Montana.

“It’s really knocked a hole in their family life. She wants a firm commitment this is his last season — or he might have to hit the dusty trail!,” the friend said.

A SUCCESFUL CAREER VS FAMILY LIFE

In an interview with Variety, Kevin said that all parts of his new film will be shot back to back. They will probably shoot for eight months.

“I’m as pressed as I’ve ever been in my life in terms of the responsibilities and the amount of decisions I’m having to make every day, between doing what I’m doing every day for ‘Yellowstone’ and my own [work],” he said.

“There’s a lot of people standing behind me waiting for me to make decisions and things like that,” Kevin added.

Kevin reportedly took about four years off during and after the births of his children with Christine.

“I am less concerned with success on screen than being around for the next 20 years to take care of them,” he said during an interview with Daily Express in 2016.

Since getting married, Christine has stood by and supported Kevin in his career.

According to MailOnline, Kevin filed his response to the divorce on Tuesday. He is also seeking joint custody of their children. 

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” a statement from his representative reads:

“We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” the statement continues.

The couple reportedly has a pre-nuptial agreement.

THE ACTOR’S TRAIL OF BROKEN HEARTS

Before his marriage to Christine, Kevin was married to Cindy Silva. They split in 1994 and share three children – Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35, MailOnline reports.

The couple reportedly split after rumours of an affair with a hulu dancer while filming his film Waterworld in Hawaii. Silva received around $80 million (about R1.4 billion) in their divorce settlement. 

Before marrying Christine, the actor had a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney. She is the socialite niece of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, the publication reports.

Bridget and Kevin share a son Liam.
