South African businesswoman and reality TV star Shauwn “MaMkhize” usually spares no expense when it comes to spoiling herself or her family. She is well known for her over-the-top lifestyle and spending habits and has built herself quite the following on social media.
Gossip blogger Musa Khawula got people talking about this lifestyle when he shared a snap of MaMkhize wearing a very pricey Balmain skirt suit with expensive accessories to match on Tuesday this week.
Not everyone in South Africa can afford to wear outfits that cost around R100k. In fact, more than half of the country cannot afford even their most basic needs.
In September 2021, the Pietermaritzburg Economic Justice & Dignity group (PMBEJD) reported that approximately 30.4 million people in South Africa live below the old upper-bound poverty line.
For South African millionaire MaMkhize, this is a distant reality.
The businesswoman turned social media star frequently flaunts her wealth online and was recently spotted wearing a designer outfit that costs just over R100 000.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday 7 May, controversial Twitter blogger Musa Khawula wrote that MaMkhize’s Balmain skirt suit cost R63k while her Gucci sunglasses and Valentino bag cost a combined R51k.
While variations of the outfit cost a little less – at around R41k – it’s still a leg and an arm for most people.
The outfit details definitely left social media users with a lot to think about.
While some of them joked about dating MaMkhize, others were left dismayed that some people were walking around in clothes by cost as much as cars that they can’t even afford to buy over a period of five years.
“Her shades are my salary.”
“I want to go and sit out side every day maybe she will feel sorry for me and give me a job or clothes she doesn’t wear anymore or something.”
