Former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green headed online on Wednesday 28 July to share some sad news. According to her heartbreaking Instagram post, the South African beauty and her family are going through a tough time after hearing that their little dog had to have his eye removed and is now permanently blind.

Tamaryn Green is heartbroken

Green shared some pretty heartbreaking news on Instagram. According to the sad post, her little dog Oreo has been diagnosed with Idiopathic Retinal Detachment a condition that rendered the pooch permanently blind.

“In a short space of time, literally seven days our baby boy went permanently blind in both eyes. He has been diagnosed with Idiopathic Retinal Detachment. An irreversible condition

‘We’re praying that he finds his happy place again’

Green detailed how she had noticed that Oreo had been bumping into objects and struggling to play fetch. A short while later, his eye was swollen and soon he was off to get checked by a doctor who confirmed that he was going blind and would need the eye removed.

“We noticed him bumping into objects, struggling to play fetch, and generally appearing more on edge. Later he developed a swollen right eye. We took him for a full exam and received the bad news.

“Eye drops were not sufficient to manage the pain and discomfort anymore and the last option was to remove the one troubling eye. Oreo is my baby and my heart breaks for him. I’m sure other animal lovers can relate, that if possible we’ll go to the ends of the earth for them.”

“Currently, he is adapting after his eye surgery. We’re praying that he finds his happy place again.”
