No one wants to be busted for wearing fake designer clothes or accessories, especially not some of Mzansi’s top celebs. An anonymous Instagram account surfaced and it is “exposing” some of our celebs for allegedly rocking “fake Gucci”.

The “Fake Gucci” community Instagram account titles themselves as a government official and is keeping their eyes wide open, ready to expose celebs who post pictures in what they reckon are counterfeit items. The mastermind behind the account has made it clear that they only deal with Gucci items.

The account’s Instagram bio reads: “I’m here to expose these designer wanna-be’s, stick with your Zara and H&M if you can’t afford the real thing!”

The account also urges followers to tag them if they spot any celebs rocking what they think is a fake Gucci item. The account has raked in just over 8 000 followers and is causing quite the stir.

Media personality Somizi Mhlongo was one celeb who was reportedly caught out by the Instagram account. In the picture, Somizi rocks a Gucci khaki bucket hat, a white sweatshirt, sweatpants and khaki boots to match.

The anonymous “Fake Gucci” spotter shares that Somizi is one of the last celebs someone would expect to see rocking luxury counterfeit items.

“I hope you were just an innocent consumer who was scammed into thinking this was real. Either way, it’s fake!”.

Babes Wodumo’s husband and gqom star Mampintsha was nabbed by the account twice for allegedly wearing “fake” bucket hats. The ‘Gucci spotter’ wrote: “Durban is slowly turning into #fakecity.”

How did ‘Gucci spotter’ find out?

When Mampintsha was busted the second time, he was pictured hanging out with DJ Tira. The Gucci spotter compared the colours of Mampintsha’s bucket hat to the “original”.

The person behind the Instagram account was certainly not shy to tag Mampintsha in both photos.
