THEY LITERALLY GHOSTED US’

Since purchasing the micro-blogging app in October 2022, Elon has fired thousands of Twitter employees and executives including the then CEO, Parag Agrawal as part of his global cost cutting plan.

Over the last few months several former Twitter employees have spoken out against the company under Elon’s rule.

According to CNN, former Twitter Africa employees who were retrenched by the Tesla CEO seven months ago have come forward to reveal that they still haven’t received any severance pay. The Ghana-based team has agreed to settle for a severance package that was lesser than their counter parts in other countries.

The settled agreement consisted of three months’ worth of severance, the cost of repatriating foreign staff and legal expenses incurred during negotiations with the company, however despite this agreement they still have not received the money or any further communication, sources told CNN.

“They literally ghosted us”, one former Twitter Africa employee told CNN.

“Although Twitter has eventually settled former staff in other locations, Africa staff have still been left in the lurch despite us eventually agreeing to specific negotiated terms”.

The former Twitter employees mentioned that they were reluctant to agree to the severance packages without benefits, but only agreed to accept because they had no choice but to settle.

“Twitter was non-responsive until we agreed to the three months because we were all so stressed and exhausted and tired of the uncertainty, reluctant to take on the extra burdens of a court case so we felt we had no choice but to settle,” another former employee shared.

TWITTER RESPONDS WITH A ‘POOP’ EMOJI

The media outlet tried reaching out to Twitter for comment on the status of the severance packages for the former employees in the Ghana office but received an automated response with a poop emoji.

It’s unclear whether Twitter still has a media relations department.

In March, the billionaire tweeted that Twitter would now respond to all press inquiries with the poop emoji.
