DJ Maphorisa’s bail conditions: ‘You must not be in contact with her’

Amapiano star DJ Maphorisa’s assault case was postponed until 14 June despite club DJ and actress Thuli Phongolo withdrawing the charges.

Maphorisa was hauled before Randburg Magistrates Court on 8 May 2023 for alleged assault.

DJ MAPHORISA’S BAIL CONDITIONS

Daily Sun reports that Phongolo filed a withdrawal statement and agreed that the accused be released on bail.

He was granted bail of R4000 with some conditions attached to it.

Media houses were barred from recording the live proceedings of the court appearance.

Magistrate Clement Mukhodobyane ordered Maphorisa to not be in contact with Thuli Phongolo, not even on social media.

Mukhodobyane said: “You must not be in contact with her. Even on social media platforms. I hope you understand.”

The magistrate also revealed that Phongolo would be collecting her belongings at his place.

ARREST AND ALLEGED ASSAULT

DJ Maphorisa was arrested on 7 May 2023 after a case of assault was reported against him at the Sandton Police Station by Thuli Phongolo.

It was reported that Maphorisa allegedly hit and strangled the former Generations actress at her Sandton apartment after a heated argument.

It was a shock to many that the two were even in a relationship.

In 2021, the rumour mill had it that the two were dating, but Phongolo rubbished the claims.

In recent years they managed to distance themselves from the rumours, only to confirm them through Maphorisa’s arrest.

A close source in the music industry also revealed that the two have had several nasty incidents before that were not reported to the police.
