Today was a great day for women’s soccer in South Africa after the country’s home team Banyana Banyana defeated Italy 3-2. Scores of locals have headed online to celebrate the team’s victory. The country’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, also headed online to congratulate the team while asking them to bring home the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ramaphosa trolled over load shedding while celebrating Banyana Banyana

The women of Banyana Banyana proved thousands of people wrong after defeating Italy in a Fifa World Cup match earlier today.

The team scored 3 goals beating Italy who scored 2. It was a magical moment for many who got to witness the team winning their first-ever World Cup game in history.

Heading online, thousands of influential South Africans celebrated the win. Stars like Bonang, Anele and Andile Ncube couldn’t contain their pride in dozens of tweets.

Taking to Twitter, President Cyril Ramaphosa also congratulated Banyana Banyana:

“Congratulations to @Banyana_Banyana on your victory against Italy and securing our spot in the final 16. You have lifted our spirits and made us immensely proud. Bring the cup home!” he wrote in a tweet.

Let the roasting begin

It didn’t take long for social media users to start trolling him in the comment section. Many of them pointed out that a lot of people were forced to miss the game because of load shedding.

“There were South Africans who couldn’t watch the game due to loadshedding! Do better @CyrilRamaphosa,” one person said while another added:

“Also stop load-shedding so we can watch support! Is that too much to ask”
