‘Danny Jordaan is stressed’: Bonang after historic Banyana win

TV personality Bonang Matheba has dragged SAFA president Danny Jordaan after Banyana’s win at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Media personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba is in a happy mood following the South African women’s football team, Banyana Banyana’s historic victory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Wellington, Australia.

BANYANA ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STAGE AFTER WIN AGAINST ITALY

The Mzansi ladies emerged victorious with a scintillating 3-2 win against Italy on Wednesday, 2 August, to qualify for the round of 16 stage of the tournament.

Banyana’s dreams of qualifying and clinching their first-ever World Cup win looked to be over when they were a goal down in the 10th minute after Italy were awarded a penalty. However, the South African ladies showed character after an own goal from Benedetta Orsi, as well as goals by Hildah Magaia and Thembi Kgatlana to finish second in Group G behind Sweden.

Banyana’s match will be against the Netherlands on Sunday, 6 Aguast, at 04:00 SA time.

This historic win has restored South Africa’s faith in Banyana after drawing in two consecutive matches in the tournament.

BONANG AND OTHER SOUTH AFRICANS DRAG DANNY JORDAAN

Award-winning presenter Bonang took to her Twitter to drag South African Football Association president, Danny Jordaan, who is not a favourite at the moment in the football fraternity.

“Danny Jordan is stresseddttttt la nkutlwa! [Danny Jordaan is stressed do you hear me!] O batla go swa [He is going to die]” she wrote.

WHY SOUTH AFRICANS ARE ANGRY AT DANNY JORDAAN

A few days before Banyana departed for the competition, there was a dispute between the players and SAFA regarding World Cup bonuses.

The footballers boycotted their friendly match against 140th-placed Botswana as they expressed displeasure in certain issues, including the standard of the pitch at Tsakane Stadium in Botswana.

Whilst FIFA indicated that each player participating at the World Cup would receive $30 000 (about R552 000), SAFA had not committed to paying the players anything at the time of the boycott.
