LONGWE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND

Zandie is among the people who were in the house the night the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was shot in what’s believed to be a botched robbery.

During her testimony, the singer told the court that two intruders entered the Khumalo household on 26 October 2014 in Vosloorus where Meyiwa would later get killed.

She said three shots were fired, one while there was a scuffle where she and the other witnesses were fighting the armed intruders, and two others after she ran off to hide in the bathroom.

Zandie made three statements which were all picked apart by the defence counsels; one on 27 October 2014 another on 6 November 2014 and a third on 2 October 2018.

In one statement, Zandie said her then-boyfriend Longwe Twala was nowhere to be found when Meyiwa was taken to the hospital. She said they only saw him when he arrived at the hospital with her mother, Ntombi Khumalo, and he had changed his clothes. She also said that Longwe did not see Meyiwa at the hospital.

“There is an SMS Longwe sent to Thwala [Meyiwa’s friend Mthokozisi] saying Senzo was shot in front of us.

“He is suggesting he was there. But you said Longwe ran out?” Advocate Zithulele Nxumalo asked.

Zandie replied: “He will come here to tell the court. I can’t speak on his behalf. Call Longwe.”
