Prince Harry’s Zimbabwean ex: Five things to know about Chelsy

The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy, who hails from Zimbabwe has taken centre stage amid his legal battle against Mirror Group Newspaper Limited. But, who is she?

PRINCE HARRY ON ‘DOOMED’ RELATIONSHIP WITH CHELSY DAVY

Chelsy Davy, was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe was in a relationship with Prince Harry from 2004 to 2011. The pair had an on-and-off relationship for the better part of the seven years. According to a written statement obtained by The New York Times, Harry wrote that he felt like their relationship “was always set to be doomed” because of “the prying eyes of the tabloids.”

“It was just that feeling of being under surveillance all the time,” he wrote.

“I believe Chelsy found this even more difficult to deal with when she lived in England … everyone has a limit as to what they can endure,” he added.

Harry’s revelation was given as part of his ongoing lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspaper Limited. The Duke claims that the company used unethical methods, such as tapping into his cell phone to get the “inside scoop” on his life.

1. CHELSY MET PRINCE HARRY IN CAPE TOWN

Prince Harry reportedly met the Zimbabwean-born beauty during his gap year in Cape Town in 2004.

2. SHE WAS BORN IN ZIMBABWE

The beauty was born in Bulawayo – a city in Zimbabwe. Her father is Zimbabwean businessman Charles Davy and her mom is former model and Miss Rhodesia Beverly. 

She is a businesswoman by profession. The businesswoman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a law degree from University of Leeds in 2009.

3. THE PAIR WERE IN A ‘SERIOUS’ RELATIONSHIP FROM 2004 – 2011

According to Daily Mail, Chelsy was in a serious relationship with the Duke of Sussex from 2004 to 2011. However, the pair are said to have been in an on-and-off relationship for the best part of those seven years.

The business woman married hotelier Sam Cutmore-Scott this year.
