Born on 16 May 1981 in Empangeni in KwaZulu-Natal, Schalk Brits’ early life was marked by a passion for sport, according to RugbyPass.

His journey into rugby began at Paul Roos Gymnasium where he honed his skills and developed a love for the game.

It was during these formative years that Brits laid the foundation for a future career in rugby, displaying natural talent and dedication.

University years at Stellenbosch provided Brits with the academic and athletic support to further his rugby dreams and he continued to refine his skills.

SENIOR RUGBY CAREER

Schalk Brits began his senior career with Western Province in 2002 where he made a significant impact, showcasing his prowess as a hooker.

His journey continued with the Stormers, where he played for four seasons and made 51 appearances, scoring 20 points.

But it was Brits’ move to Saracens in England in 2009 that solidified his status as a rugby icon.

During his time with Saracens, Brits made over 200 appearances for the club.

SARACENS TRIUMPHS

Schalk Brits was instrumental in helping Saracens win multiple titles, including four Premiership titles and two Heineken Champions Cup titles.
