Convicted criminal Thabo Bester has left South Africans flabbergasted with news he plans to hire hotshot lawyer Dali Mpofu.
If that wasn’t bold enough for Bester, he also revealed he would be consulting with Zandile Mshololo, who is representing one of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.
The announcement was made in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 11 October.
Bester and several accused – including rumoured girlfriend Nandipha Magudumana – are facing charges of fraud, corruption, aiding and abetting a prisoner escape, and tampering with a corpse.

HIRING THABO BESTER, ZANDILE MSHOLOLO
While Nandipha Magudumana was a no-show in court – reportedly over a fainting spell – Thabo Bester made quite an appearance.
Addressing Magistrate Estelle de Lange, Bester revealed his plans to hire two high-profile advocates.
“I feel that there are quite a few things I want them to deal with,” he said, according to EWN.

Meanwhile, Nandipha was treated by paramedics at a nearby Park Station police station after reportedly fainting following her transit from the Kroonstad female prison, where she is being held in custody.
The trial will now be heard in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein and is expected to start on 21 February 2024.
DALI MPOFU CHARGES R50K A DAY
Meanwhile, Dali Mpofu’s son Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh claims that his famous father charges up to R50 000 per day as a senior counsel.
Sizwe made the comments in an interview with podcaster Penuel Mlotshwa.

This was confirmed by TshisaLive, who revealed Mpofu’s fee structure during his representation of suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
WHERE WILL THABO BESTER GET THE MONEY?
While Thabo Bester is known for his flashy court appearances and allegedly swindling money as a convicted fraudster, South Africans are grappling with how he can afford the services of Dali Mpofu and Zandile Mshololo.
