A week after being criticised over his kicking errors in the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup clash against Ireland, Manie Libbok has “redeemed” himself with a flawless play against Tonga, according to South African rugby fans.

Despite being under intense scrutiny, the fly-half was praised for performing well under pressure.

Libbok replaced Handre Pollard in the second half, who made his 2023 World Cup debut in the match on Sunday.

The Boks defeated their opponents 49-18 in their final Pool B game. However, it will be a waiting game to determine if they proceed to the quarter-finals following an Ireland vs Scotland clash next weekend.

MANIE LIBBOK PRAISED OVER PERFORMANCE

Last week, Manie Libbok found himself the target of cruel Internet trolls following his performance in the Springboks vs Ireland game.

But on Sunday, the fly-half seemingly “redeemed” himself after scoring three successful conversions.

“Not a single miss by Libbok. Redemption!” posted one X user. Another added: “Give credit where credit is due. You played well today, Mannie Libbok.”

LOVE FOR HANDRE POLLARD TOO

While Manie Libbok was praised for his impeccable kicks, Handre Pollard was ultimately the golden boy of the game.

The 29-year-old – who scored four conversions – made his first appearance for the Springboks in over a year following an injury rehabilitation.

Pollard became a national hero in 2019 when he helped SA win the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

“Pollard is the best kicker in the world”, posted one tweep.
