Springbok Vincent Koch has praised his teammate Faf De Klerk for his support and encouragement after a knee injury nearly ruled him out of the Rugby World Cup.

The blonde, burly player has also joked about his friendship with the pint-sized scrummer.

Both Vincent and Faf are currently in France, helping SA defend the title as world champions.

VINCENT KOCH JOKES ABOUT FRIENDSHIP WITH FAF

Last month, Vincent Koch injured his knee during warm-up training, just minutes before he was meant to play in the starting line-up against Romania.

Koch sat out another match against Ireland before being given the all-clear to play against Tonga last week.

Reflecting on the injury scare, Vincent revealed that his teammates had rallied around him. But his Boks bestie, Faf de Klerk, kept him physically and mentally going.

He told SuperSport Rugby: “I was in a hole, and Faf de Kler just rocked up. He gave me a hug and said everything would be fine.

“He’s a good friend in the good times and the sad times. I appreciate him a lot.

Vincent Koch said that he had an “unbelievable relationship” with Faf, whom he knew since the start of his professional career.

But Koch made an interesting comment about why he really loved the popular player.

He added with a laugh: “When we go for dinners or lunches, he doesn’t eat as much. So there is always a double meal for the big ones. So, I think that’s why we got so close…I know he’s not going to finish his meals!”
