Popular Springboks player RG Snyman is elated after overcoming his injury and winning the World Cup with the South African rugby team.

RG SNYMAN: ‘IT WAS REALL TOUGH’

The Munster and South Africa lock, RG Snyman reveals in an interview with Jim Hamilton that it was really a tough journey for him to be part of the squad and the Springboks team.

“I really had to do everything to get back here. To be part of this squad and team is something special in itself but to perform on the biggest stage.

Extra.ie reports that Snyman was a 52nd minute replacement for Franco Mostert in the second half before the South African team secured back-to-back World Cup wins.

“To have this [medal] around our necks tonight is such a great accomplishment for all of us,” adds Snyman.

SPRINGBOKS’ WINNING BY ONE-POINT

Snyman also says the Springboks players were all nervous and constantly looking up, at the end as it was really tough towards the end.

“We are so relived to pull it through in the end.”

702 reports that the South African team made history over the weekend, when they won their historic fourth Rugby World Cup. This is a massive achievement as South Africa only participated in eight Rugby World Cups.

Mark Alexander, president of South African Rugby Union: “The first two years we were banned from participating so if one looks at the averages, we have done very well.”

Naas Botha, who is a former Springbok captain adds that they did us extremely proud: “One point, 10 points, or 15 points, it does not matter, a win is a win… It is one of those games where all the players actually did their part for a fantastic final.”
