Springbok fans were understandably left divided after seeing Siya Kolisi rubbing shoulders with the Racing 92 rugby players as seen in a viral Instagram video shared on Thursday, 9 November.

Siya Kolisi has officially joined Racing 92 as he said he would in his statement released earlier this year. This comes after winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup with the Springboks. According to Planet Rugby, Racing 92 owner Jacky Lorenzetti expects Kolisi to have a significant impact at the club. He reportedly said the South African-born former Springbok captain has the ability to inspire and lead which could have a “unifying” effect at Racing 92.

“Siya, he radiates. He’s someone quite extraordinary. He gives me the impression of being a tractor that will pull the whole team behind him,” Lorenzetti was quoted as saying.

Springbok fans have been left divided after seeing Kolisi mingle with his new French club and in the Parisian training gear as seen in an Instagram video. He is expected to make his debut with the French team at the Paris La Défense Arena on 26 November.

“It has been an honour for me to be here; I have really enjoyed being here. The boys have welcomed me and all the staff around here [too],” Kolisi said.
