On Sunday 26 March, police officials announced that at least three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes — stage name AKA. The arrest was made shortly after the Megacy (AKA’s huge fan base) sent a scathing letter to the South African police minister Bheki Cele demanding that the rapper gets the justice he deserves.

The news of the arrests have been welcomed by many relieved South Africans, others however, appear to be weary and have brought up the Senzo Meyiwa case.

Fans are concerned

While news of the arrests has left many people feeling hopeful that the cries for justice are actually being heard, others worry that law enforcement officials are making hasty arrests to silence the Megacy.

Many of them have taken to social media to discuss their concerns that this case may turn into the Senzo Meyiwa case.
