Celebrities and SARS in South Africa do not have the best of relationships. But AKA is celebrating being on the right side of the tax body after settling his hefty bill in full

The rapper paid a whopping R5 million to SARS in a screenshot he posted on his social media accounts.

Which begs the question – how much did he actually earn before his tax deductions?

AKA ALL SMILES AFTER SETTLING SARS BILL

In a typical brag-worthy move, AKA boasted about having a zero balance with SARS after the multi-million rand payout.

He captioned the image: “Woke up this morning and I don’t owe the government a damn thang. Hallelujah! (oh yes you read correctly, that is 5 MILLION … in tax)”.

In the pic – a statement of account – AKA was billed for money he incurred during the period of February 2017 – February 2022.

The R5 million figure included the assessment as well as interest incurred during this time.

And tweeps were thoroughly impressed.

“This means that Supa Mega, you not rich but you rich, rich actually??

“No wonder Forbes is your last name”

“Yoh how much do you make when you pay 5m in tax?”

“You’ve paid the president’s and his deputy’s salary”

TWEEPS DRAG IN CASSPER

Black Twitter would not be what it is without bringing in celebrity beef – and naturally, tweeps had to make AKA’s announcement about his rival Cassper Nyovest.

“You pay 5 million taxes, the other guy buys a car worth 5 million. You’re way behind! It’s time to beef with people in your league not the big guns,” said one tweep.

“Cassper would never stoop so low”, said another.

Cassper Nyovest in not the only celeb who has made recent headlines over his SARS bill

DJ Sbu, Zahara, Major League and Hamilton Ndlovu have all found themselves in hot water over their tax non-payments.
