Despite being accused of being a “bully,” Springboks fans have defended player Eben Etzebeth following his heated brawl with Jamie Ritchie. This, during South Africa’s clash with Scotland in their first Rugby World Cup match on Sunday, 10 September.
In fact, many social media users have gone as far as to claim that the Scottish captain “deserved” the terrifying encounter with the tall player.
Springboks clinched an epic 18-13 victory against their opponent in Marseilles.

In a video that went viral on social media, Eben Etzebeth and Jamie Ritchie are seen throwing hands at each other on the side of the pitch.
Roughing up his smaller opponent, Eben smirked as members of both the Springboks and the Scottish national team forced him apart.

It’s unclear what led to the scuffle.

Eben was later sent off after reportedly sustaining a shoulder injury.
