‘IT’S OX NCHE WHO LIKES YOUR CAKE, NOT THABO

Woolworths took to X (formely known as Twitter) to sponsor one of the Springboks players, Ox Nche with cake for a year after they beat England 16-15 in the Rugby World Cup semi-finals last Saturday.

The retailer tweeted: “Dear Ox, please reach out to us for a year’s supply of chocolate cake. After last night, it’s a South African priority.”

A Springboks fan @Cmfundisi replied: “Dear @WOOLWORTHS_SA, we like you nhe but have some respect. If you mean this, it is you who must reach out not Ox. This is not some Thabo who likes your cake- it’s Ox Nché,” she said.

CapeTownETC reports that Nche, who is a popular and colourful character, was widely celebrated after the game, with most onlookers clearly stating that he should have been the Man of the Match for the Springboks.

SPRINGBOKS FANS REACT TO WOOLWORTHS POST

@Viwe_Pobana: “Have they apologised? The audacity to make a national hero, i mean a legend, the destroyer of the English to reach out. Hay Woolworths do better man. Thank goodness my mama didn’t name me Thabo.”

@simphiwezwane07: “It’s a way of reaching him while getting advertising. Nothing wrong.”

@mbele_lnb: “Waitsi, and he must be the one to reach out!!!! No, no, no. @WOOLWORTHS_SA you know where to find him and then supply him with his favourites. Perhaps thereafter even make a small donation towards his local rugby club, to support the players coming up after him
