‘Halala’: Rasta honours Caster Semenya with portrait [photos]

To celebrate Olympics champion, Caster Semenya winning her discrimination case recently, Rasta shared a portrait of her on his social media.

Following Olympics champion, Caster Semenya announcing that she had finally won her case against discrimination in Europe recently, on Wednesday, 12 July, popular painter, Rasta The Artist—real name Lebani Thaka David Sirenje had netizens divided after they saw his latest artwork.


Caster Semenya was banned from competing in certain events in the Olympics due to her having high testosterone hormone levels, EWN reported. She recently announced that she won her discrimination case at the European Court of Human Rights. In a statement, she shared her gratitude and highlighted how the discrimination against her affected her.

“I have suffered a lot at the hands of the powers that be and been treated poorly. The hard work that I have put into being the athlete that I am has been questioned. My rights violated. My career was impacted. All of it is so damaging. Mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially,” she said in the statement.

“This judgement means the world to me,” she added.

After learning about the Olympic champion’s victory, Rasta decided to celebrate her by dedicating his time and utilising his expertise and painted a portrait of her. The picture showed Semenya wearing a yellow and green tracksuit with her in her famous straight back braided hair-do. To accompany the portrait on his feed, Rasta captioned it.

“Caster Semenya wins testosterone discrimination case in European court halalaaa,” he wrote.
