According to the note that Amy shared, Gugu’s kids call her “Gogo and Dodo”.

“My kids call you Gogo and Dodo, I call you Amy which means friend! I still remember when you shared the meaning of your name with me and asked me mine. You told me that it means friend, you are my friend! Our bond was sealed and built on friendship from that day forward. Calling you Amy always reminds me and takes me back to those first days. How you looked at a 9 year old village girl from Matatiele and you took her to be part of your family and loved her unconditionally. How from that moment you changed my life,” read the note.

She also thanked Amy for her being one of the first black students to be admitted into a certain school.

“Last week I went to a school orientation at Bryandale Primary and was sharing with the Principal how I was in the firsts of black students to be admitted into school, this was because of you! How you saw a village girl and saw a future a dream a new South Africa become real,” read another part of the note.
