‘Unbelievably traumatic’: Nadine talks hostile hospital clash [video]

Derick Hougaard’s girlfriend Nadine has shed light on what happened during a hospital “altercation” earlier this month.

In a viral video on Facebook, the Afrikaans singer was filmed up against two of Derick’s “friends” who demanded access to visit him in the Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Derick was in a coma in the ICU and hooked to a ventilator at the time.

According to the friends, Nadine had “denied” them visitation rights following his admission on Saturday, 10 June.  Derick – who was found unresponsive in his Pretoria East home – 

has since awakened from a coma and resumed breathing on his own, Nadine claimed in a Facebook post.

NADINE SPILLS THE TEA ON HOSPITAL CLASH

Speaking to Jacaranda FM’s Martin Bester, Nadine recounted the hostile showdown with two friends; alleged financier Louis Liebenberg and psychologist-turned-pastor Helena Niedinger.

In the viral clip, Helena and Louis confront Nadine and her mother outside the ICU department. They’re heard verbally attacking her for denying them entry.

Without naming them, the singer told Bester: “A few people who came to the hospital said that Derick was no longer here. He is dead. Which is a complete lie.

“That is why the hospital made a decision to say they can’t have to close the doors and only allow two or three people next to his bed.”

Of the clip, Nadine said: “It was unbelievably traumatic for me, but in such circumstances, you must protect the patient. The last thing I will allow is for someone to speak death over his life while you are praying every second for that person to live”.

Nadine added that Derick would be “deeply disappointed” at his friends’ actions.

She added: “He will start reading and hearing about everything, which is sad.”

Derick Hougaard’s friends Helena Niedinger and Louis Liebenberg have been outspoken about their concerns and suspicions on their social media accounts.

This includes their allegations.

• Was possibly poisoned or had overdosed before being found unresponsive
• Derick and Nadine argued on Friday, resulting in the former’s fragile state of mind
• Questioned the timeline of events when Nadine discovered him the following day (Saturday)
• Asked why Derick was in a state hospital and offered to pay for private hospitalisation
• Demanded that results of toxicology testing – to decipher what drugs were in Derick’s system – be made public.
• Nadine had “no right” to make decisions on his behalf or deny access to any hospital visitors
• Claimed that Derick was “no longer on the earth,” hinting that machines were keeping him alive

In a Facebook post following his admission, Nadine called out the duo for “shouting and screaming” in the hospital. She also admonished them for bypassing security and posting pics of Derick on a ventilator on their social media.

She added: “I have no idea what these people are capable of.”
