Medical doctor and media personality Musa Mthombeni is one of the many South Africans who were not impressed with the new Miss SA.

The former YoTV presenter – who is married to Miss SA 2015, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni – was bumbed when his favourite did not walk away with the crown on Sunday, 13 August, at the SunBet Arena at Time Squares Menlyn, Tshwane.

It was second time lucky for the 25-year-old model and entrepreneur who entered in 2020 and became the second runner-up. She also went on to represent South Africa at the Miss Universe pageant in 2021.

During the show, Dr Musa shared his views on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

The radiologist rated the top three contestants final answers out of 10; giving Nande Mabala seven and both Bryoni Govender and Natasha a six each. However, he later changed his score for Natasha, saying: “Apologies, after auditing I’ve revised it to 5/10”.

He continued: “Only way Natasha wins now is if they weigh the week’s interviews slightly higher than final night performance. She probably killed the weeks stuff. We will have to see.”

After the winner was announced, Dr Musa expressed his disappointment, calling the decision a “heist”.

“Nande won it for me! That’s all that matter. Proper CIT HEIST THIS ONE!”
