Miss SA Natasha Joubert has responded to critics who questioned her decision to re-enter the pageant following her Top 3 placement in 2020.

Natasha Joubert has responded to critics who questioned her decision to re-enter the Miss SA pageant after placing in the Top 3 in 2020. 

The brunette beauty scooped the winner’s crown in a glamorous event at the SunBet Arena on Sunday night.

However, social media users have accused pageant organisers of favouring Natasha throughout the competition.

NATASHA JOUBERT RESPONDS TO CRITICISM OF CROMING

In a press conference following her crowing, Natasha Joubert reflected on her Miss SA journey. 

The newly-crowned queen told the media of her criticism: “Reading that in the news was disheartening to see how your hard work was being invalidated.”

She added: “It was always a part of the rules that I could come back.

“I don’t even remember what I did three years ago. This is a completely different person. I have changed a lot. Mentally and emotionally, a lot has happened in between.

“If you put yourself in my shoes, what would you have done?”

After being crowned as Shudu Musida’s runner-up in 2020, Natasha would later represent Mzansi at the Miss Universe pageant.  Following her disappointment at not placing in the Top 21 at the international pageant, Natasha decided to try her hand at Miss SA again. However, the pageant rules stated that entrants had to wait three years before reapplying.

‘FULL CIRCLE MOMENT’

In her winner acceptance speech, Natasha Joubert referenced her previous stint in the  Miss SA pageant.

She said: “This moment is the epitome of a full circle moment for me. A dream that started 11 years ago – and which three years ago did come to fruition after proudly representing my country on an international stage at Miss Universe – has today become a reality. 

She continued: “It took a lot of hard work, grit, self-confidence, and support to keep my dream alive and to keep on believing in the beauty of second chances. It is a journey that I will forever be grateful for, which moulded and shaped me into the woman I am today”.
