Mihlali slammed for inboxing Quavo amid news of Takeoff’s murder

South African beauty influencer Mihlali Ndamase is being lambasted on social media for clout chasing. This is after she shared a screenshot of her DM (direct message) to Migos rapper Quavo after the untimely passing of his nephew and group member, Takeoff.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Tuesday 1 November, the content creator and CEO of Malakyt captioned her post “hayi imbi guys [no it’s bad, guys].”

The hip-hop and entertainment industry across the world has been mourning the passing of American rapper Takeoff — real name Kirshnik Khari Ball — who died at the age of 28.

According to various reports, the musician was shot and killed in Houston, Texas, after an altercation broke out while playing a game of dice.

TMZ reported that a police officer confirmed the shooting and rapper’s death which took place in the early hours of the morning.

The publication also reported that two other people were shot and taken to the hospital in private vehicles. It’s unclear what their conditions are.

With tributes and messages of condolences pouring in, Mihlali — who now also calls herself “Hot Topic” — took to her Instagram DMs to message Quavo who was with Takeoff when the fatal incident took place.

In two short messages, Mihlali asked Quavo (whom she referred to as her friend in the text) if he was okay. She followed the message up with the words “I’m so sad” before taking a screenshot and sharing it with her 2 million followers.

Mihlali’s screenshot quickly made its way to Twitter where tweeps picked her apart for her behaviour as many found it distasteful and labelled her a clout chaser.

“If the roles were reversed and someone did that to her? It would have been considered as insensitive,” one tweep said.

Another wrote: “I actually feel like it’s worse that she texted Quavo, who is clearly mourning and in pain.”
