Latest: Nadine shares Derick Hougaard update with Jacaranda FM
Nadine took to her Facebook account three hours ago to share an update on her boyfriend Derick Hougaard’s condition with Jacaranda FM.

Afrikaans pop singer Nadine revealed in an interview with Jacaranda FM on Tuesday, 27 June that they didn’t think the retired rugby player Derick Hougaard would wake up.

NADINE: ‘HE IS EATING LITTLE SNACKS’
Nadine also revealed on her Facebook account on Wednesday morning, 28 June that Derick Hougaard is very exhausted.
She told Jacaranda FM that Derick was awake and started eating little snacks: “He has no brain damage, he can function, he can speak.”
“Thank you, Martin Bester, Megan and Jacaranda FM Regional for a nice, honest conversation this morning about Derick’s current condition. Appreciate you as a team incredibly much! What a team!”
She also revealed that Derick has been breathing on his own for the last 48 hours and he was taken off the ventilator and started eating little snacks.
“However, he still whispers when he speaks and gets constant oxygen. After more than two weeks in intensive care, the lungs get tired easily and quickly when they have to breathe on their own, so he is very exhausted… But he wants to start walking and get his vocal cords back.”
She also revealed to News24 that his short- and long-term memory seems to be intact: “I asked him to recite the alphabet to me and he smiled, and he did. He still has his sense of humour.”
The singer and TV host and thanked everyone for their continued prayers, love and all the support for the retired rugby player.
