STANFIELD CLAIMS SETSETSE TOOK DJ SUMBODY’S DEATH CERTIFICATE

According to Sunday World, Stanfield alleges that Setsetse obtained the late DJ Sumbody’s death certificate without the Sefoka family’s consent in order to get a R15 million Momentum life insurance policy payout.

Oupa John Sefoka, affectionately known as DJ Sumbody, was gunned down in a hail of bullets in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on 20 November 2022.

After the amapiano artist’s death, Setsetse has accused Stanfield of sending him death threats. He subsequently relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in April this year claiming he fears for his life.

However, according to Stanfield, Setsetse relocated because he had been dodging the investigative officer in DJ Sumbody’s death case.

He said the detectives have tried and failed to get a statement from the businessman and further decided to freeze the insurance payout from Momentum.

SETSETSE CONFIRMS LIFE INSURANCE POLICY

Setsetse did not deny Stanfield’s allegations about the life cover. However, he said that it was an agreement he had made with his late friend.

“Me and Oupa had what we call a buy and sell insurance. So basically it is to cover a director in terms of death and the money is to be paid out to the family for the shares of the business. In other words, if I don’t wake up tomorrow, insurance will cover my shares and it will pay to my wife instead of her saying she is coming to work at Ayepyep,” Setsetse explain.

Investopedia describes business life insurance or “key person insurance” as a life insurance policy that a company purchases on the life of an owner, a top executive, or another individual considered critical to the business. The insurance offers a financial cushion if the sudden loss of a certain individual would profoundly negatively affect the company’s operations

Setsetse further denied that the money had been frozen by Momentum and said Stanfield is trying to tarnish his name.

The late artist’s mother confirmed the death certificate was obtained without their permission.

SHUTTING DOWN AYEPYEP LIFESTYLE CAPE TOWN

In April, The South African reported that Setsetse filed a court order at the Western Cape High Court pertaining to the income that was being channelled into Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town.

He further opened a case against the alleged mafia boss; alleging that he and his wife, Nicole Johnson, have hijacked the business and want full ownership.

In statement that Setsetse released on Wednesday, 9 August, he said they have temporarily shut down the club’s doors because they are “operating under siege”.

“Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town is under threat of an alleged 28s gang leader ‘Ralph Stanfield’ who is currently exerting force in an illegal manner in order to not only gain a stake in the business, but to take over the control of the business. [sic]

“It is widely known that this man is fearless and the whole city is scared to come out in the public to expose how their lives have been threatened or businesses have been extorted. We are currently operating under siege of someone that has proved timrle and time again that he is above the law [sic], ” the statement reads in part.
