Four complainants reported cases against Jub Jub

‘Uyajola 9/9’ host Jub Jub was granted R10 000 bail after handing himself over for rape, assault and attempted murder charges.

Uyajola 9/9 host Jub Jub was released on R10 000 bail on Thursday, 27 July, after he handed himself over to the Brixton police station for rape, attempted murder, and assault charges.

According to Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, four complainants brought charges against the rapper – real name Molemo Maarohanye.

The offences were allegedly committed between 2006 and 2010.

“As the NPA, we are duty-bound to take action as soon as we receive information. One of the complainants registered the case in February 2022, the docket was brought to the NPA as a decision docket, and instruction was given by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to authorise a warrant for his arrest, and he handed himself over yesterday and appeared today.”

Jub Jub appeared at the Johannesburg magistrate’s court where he was granted bail with conditions that he does not leave South Africa without proper application, he hands his travel documents over to the investigative officer and he does not make contact with any of the witnesses.

The matter will return to court on 24 August.

It currently is not clear who the complainant are, but according to anti women and children abuse organisation Women For Change, the Ndikhokhele rapper’s ex-girlfriend Amanda du-Pont is one of them.

In December 2021, during an interview with MacG on Podcast and Chill, the TV presenter discussed his relationship with the actress.

Following the interview, the Skeem Saam actress alleged in a video that the musician raped her multiple times for two years while they were together.

Following her video, he issued a public apology on his Instagram page but denied raping the media personality.

“It was inappropriate for me to discuss the intimate details of my relationship with Ms Du-Pont in public. I deeply regret the incident. I wish to apologise unreservedly to Amanda for the humiliation and hurt I caused her,” he wrote.

SowetanLIVE reported that Amanda pressed rape charges against Jub Jub in February last year at the Brixton police station.
