‘He looked better fat’: Social media on John Goodman’s weight loss
Fans of American actor John Goodman took to social media to react to his weight loss pictures, which went viral on his birthday.

Social media users were divided over John Goodman’s radical weight loss transformation this past week when the actor celebrated his 71st birthday on 20 June.

HOW JOHN GOODMAN SHED THE WEIGHT
According to You, the talented actor John Goodman was spotted at the 62nd Monte-Carlo TV Festival red carpet in a slim-fit suit that showed off his 90kg weight loss.
Goodman revealed to Men’s Health in 2017 that he’s been struggling with his weight since childhood: “It started when I was a kid. I’d lock myself in the house and sneak food. It gave me great pleasure to eat – it’s part of an alcoholism personality.”
But after an intervention from personal trainer and fitness expert Mackie Shilstone in 2021 he shed the wight again and shared his transformation.
Shilstone revealed to the New York Post that he got Goodman to commit to sticking to a diet by making him dig his own grave in a cemetery.
“I’ve known John for a long time, so I said to myself, ‘Let me become an actor for a moment’.”
“I said, ‘John, here’s a shovel. You told me you’re going to recommit yourself and follow this plan’. I want you to dig your grave, until you dig your grave, you won’t understand what it means to live’.”
The personal trainer also told the actor he can dig his grave now and he [Shilstone] will cover him over and they’ll be done with this.
“Or you can use this shovel and cover it over and move on with your life and take it back.”
