Will Smith’s second son – Jaden Smith, TV hosts Trevor Noah, Bonang, sports personality Robert Marawa, musician Cassper Nyovest, DJ Black Coffee, and more celebs have taken to Twitter to react to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the live Oscars awards ceremony.

Celebrities such as Robert Marawa, Bonang, Trevor Noah, DJ Black Coffee, and Will’s son – Jaden Smith reacted to his father – Will Smith slapping Chris Rock across the face during the live Oscars awards ceremony.  

It all began when the King Richard star went onto the stage and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s alopecia, saying he ‘could not wait to see her in GI Jane 2’.  

The infuriated actor shouted:

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.” 

His son – Jaden Smith from his marriage with Jada Smith later tweeted:  

“And that’s how we do it”  

One of his followers @Jidion6 replied:

“But your pops won’t slide on August.”

Mzansi’s A-listers – Bonang Matheba, Trevor Noah, DJ Black Coffee, Robert Marawa, and Cassper Nyovest also took to their social media accounts to react to the Fresh Prince of Bell Air star and Rock’s heated moment.  

Comedian Trevor Noah tweeted:

“Wtaf? That wasn’t scripted?”   

Award-winning TV host Bonang Tweeted:

“A lot is going on.”   

Sports personality Robert Marawa tweeted:

“At this rate, Will Smith will be at Sun City for the shandis!”

THE 2022 ‘OSCARS’  

The award-winning actor later accepted the Actor in a Leading Role award for King Richard onstage during the 94th Annual Academy Awards at Dolby Theatre, shortly after slapping Oscars host Chris Rock.   

An emotional Will Smith also tearfully apologised for his actions and also compared his role as a husband and father to that of Richard, who is the father of tennis aces Venus and Serena Williams.  

Will Smith said:

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. In this time in my life, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world.”  

“I know, to do what we do, we got to be able to take abuse. You gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you.”

“In this business, you gotta be able to have people disrespecting you, and you gotta smile and pretend like that’s OK.”  

“I want to apologise to Academy, I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I am not crying for winning an award.”

“It’s not about winning an award for me. Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.”  

“Thank you. I hope the Academy invites me back.”
