Despite losing against New Zealand’s All Blacks, the captain of Ireland, Johnny Sexton went home a champion in his son’s eyes. 

This, after a viral video showed the little boy shared a touching message with the rugby player veteran.

Ireland lost against the All Blacks 28-24 in a nail-biting clash at the Stade de France.

JOHNNY SEXTON’S SON SHARES SWEET MESSAGE

In a video that had social media users reaching for the tissues, Johnny Sexton and his young son Luca were seen leaving the pitch.

The Ireland captain appeared defeated after losing to New Zealand’s All Blacks. The game also ended Sexton’s Rugby World Cup experience as a veteran player.

Consoling his dad, little Luca was seen saying to his famous father: “You’re still the best dad.”

IRELAND CAPTAIN BOWS OUT OF RUGBY CAREER

Despite giving it his all, 38-year-old Johnny Sexton leaves the competition without achieving his goal of lifting the Webb Ellis trophy.

He told Sky Sports: “You’ve got to work hard for fairytale endings; we didn’t get it, and that’s just life,”

“We didn’t leave a stone unturned; we ticked every box, trained the house down.

“I’m very proud of the boys, proud of the nation, the country, we couldn’t have done any more really.”

According to the publication, Johnny Sexton retires as Ireland’s highest scorer, contributing 1,108 points in over 119 matches.
