Happy heavenly birthday! Vusi Ma R5’s tombstone gets make-over

To celebrate the late South African artist’s first birthday in heaven, Vusi Ma R5—real name Itumeleng Mosoeu, his family organised a special tombstone unveiling ceremony for him which was held on 28 May.

RIP: VUSI MA R5’S TRAGGIC DEATH

35-year-old Vusi Ma R5 was hailed with multiple bullets and was successfully killed outside Legentsheng in Soshanguve on 30 January around 01:00 am, minutes after his performance. Police were called to the scene and found the Barcardi music artist dead outside a tavern.

Akasia police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello was said to have revealed that a murder case was opened in the matter, IOL reported. She was quoted as saying,

“According to reports, the victim was sitting with his friends outside a tavern at Extension 13 in Soshanguve when he went across the road to the car. The others allegedly just heard gunshots, and when they went to investigate they found the victim lying on the ground. No suspects have been arrested.”

THE MUSICIAN’S TOMBSTONE GETS A MAKE-OVER

The late slain musician first was buried on 5 February in Mabopane, Tshwane. His tombstone was vandalized within weeks of his funeral. According to Kaya FM, fans were convinced the same people that had killed him were the same ones who destroyed his tombstone. Fans reportedly believed a ritual had taken place on the musician’s grave due to the “strategic” placement of the rocks on it as well as the burn marks seen on it.

The late musician’s family has decided to honour their loved one by organizing a tombstone unveiling for his 36^th birthday, and first heavenly birthday. The event was held on 28 May at 1203 Block A, Mabopane 0190.
