Ex alleges Paul Mashatile bribed her to remain silent about GBV

Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s ex-girlfriend, Gugu Nkosi, has alleged that he paid her R210 000 for her silence after his spokesperson, Keith Khoza, assaulted her last year.

According to Sunday World, Nkosi has opened a gender-based violence case against Khoza at the Sandton police station.

STATEMENT TO THE POLICE ABOUT THE INCIDENT AT MASHATILE’S HOUSE

The publication reports that in her statement to the police, Nkosi alleged that the incident took place at Mashatile’s home on 26 November.

She claimed that Khoza assaulted her, drove her car and returned with the car keys damaged. She further alleged that the deputy president then paid her R210 000 to not make the incident known to the media and also got her a new phone and a different car.

GUGU NKOSI’S VERSION

However, according to the media outlet, the story she shared is slightly different to what she told the police.

Nkosi reportedly revealed that she has been in a relationship with Mashatile since 2014, while he was still married to his late wife, Manzi Ellen Mashatile, who passed away in June 2020.

On the day of the incident, she went to the deputy president’s home unannounced but was turned away by security. After seeing Humile Mjongile, Mashatile’s current wife, she insisted on driving in. This, according to Nkosi, is when Khoza allegedly slapped her several times and damaged her Porsche Cayenne.

Nkosi further claimed that she called a journalist, a minister and the police to intervene. However, Khoza was not arrested. Mashatile allegedly gave her a courtesy car and sent hers in for repairs, but failed to pay the R150 000 required by the dealership.

KHOZA RESPONDS

In response to the allegations, Khoza said that he was innocent. He claimed that there are cameras at the house and there were about 20 witnesses.

Khoza also denied Nkosi’s claims that Humile or Mashatile were present that day. He claimed that Nkosi is being used to defame Mashatile’s character and tarnish his reputation.

“You have a person who is not working, but drives or walks around with bodyguards, how does she afford that?” asked Khoza.

“But we don’t want to speculate on things that we don’t have evidence of.”

MASHATILE’S JILTED LOVERS IN CAHOOTS

Earlier this month, Mashatile’s other alleged ex-lover — Norma Mbatha — was served with an interim protection order to stop harassing and stalking him and Khoza.

According to The Sunday Times, the order prohibits Mbatha from sending messages which incite violence or from publishing anything on social media about either of the politicians. She was also ordered to delete any defamatory tweets.

The publication also reported that in a 53-minute audio recording, Mbatha and Nkosi discussed how they wanted to ensure that Mashatile does not become president because he betrayed them.
