Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hinted at the possibility of a new social media platform via a tweet on 10 August. Here’s what we know.

ELON MUSK TEASES ‘X.COM’

Billionaire Elon Musk teased his desire to possibly create his own social media platform. This comes after he backed out on his deal to buy Twitter but he may flogged for eight million Tesla shares which is worth &6.9 billion (R111 billion). However, he may also still be forced to purchase Twitter.

Twitter reportedly has cause of concern that Musk only entered into the deal to purchase the micro-blogging site in order to collect internal data to replicate the site.

A Tweep asked the billionaire if he was done selling and he responded saying yes. He went on to say that if Twitter forces him to close the deal and some of the equity partners do not come through he is trying to avoid the emergency sale of Tesla stock.

“Yes. In the (hopefully unlikely) event that Twitter forces this deal to close *and* some equity partners don’t come through, it is important to avoid an emergency sale of Tesla stock,” he wrote.

SO, DOES THE BILLIONAIRE WANT TO LAUNCH HIS OWN PLATFORM?

It seems Musk does have an intention of launching his own social media platform. A Tweep asked the billionaire if he has any intention of creating his own platform and he responded with “X.Com”.

This was not the first time the Tesla CEO shared his intention to create his own platform. According to Business Insider, Musk told Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal he had plans for launching his own platform ahead of his takeover offer.

“X” is the nickname of Musk’s son with Canadian musician Grimes. The pair also welcomed a baby girl together. This was just after the billionaire welcomed a pair of twins with his Neuralinks executive Shivon Zilis. So, he has a total of 10 children. This includes a pair of triplets and a pair of twins with ex-wife Justine Musk.
