This viral video comes over a month after the Mnike hitmaker was granted bail for allegedly beating up and strangling his girlfriend Thuli Phongolo during an argument at her home in Sandton, Johannesburg.

According to Sunday World at the time, the former Generations: The Legacy alleged in a police statement that Maphorisa became aggressive and punched her on her chest. He also allegedly slapped her across the face.

“He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” the police statement read.

A source told the publication that the couple had fought in full view of patrons during one of his gigs the night before. Their argument allegedly ensured after a man made advances at Thuli and promised to sent her R40 000.

Although the actress filed a withdrawal statement the day after Maphorisa was arrested, her plea had not been finalised as the NPA needed time to investigate, thus postponing the case to 14 June.

However, on the day of the case, it was postponed to 5 July as there was no state representatives during the proceedings.

The couple also released a joint statement prior to the court case, saying they want to deal with the matter privately.
