Derick Hougaard’s ex-wife Karlien van Jaarsveld has returned to social media after deactivating her accounts due to public scrutiny.

Almost two weeks after shunning the spotlight, Karlien van Jaarsveld – the ex-wife of Derick Hougaard – has returned to social media.
The Afrikaans singer – who was married to the former Springboks player from 2013 – 2015 – went radio silent after receiving backlash from the public. This, after she claimed she was unaware of his hospitalisation or health condition.
Earlier this month, Derick was found unresponsive in his Pretoria East home. He was rushed to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where he lay in a coma in the ICU for almost two weeks.
Derrick has since regained consciousness and resumed breathing without a ventilator.

KARLIEN RETURNS TO SOCIAL MEDIA, SHARES CLIP OF KIDS
After reactivating her Facebook and returning to Instagram, Karlien van Jaarsveld shared a clip of her bonding with her children.
The pop star shares twins Eliah and Daniel with Derick and Elah and Johannes Samuel with her second husband, Joe Breytenbach.

In the clip, Karlien revealed how her two youngest were sad to see her leave for an upcoming music show.
She captioned the clip: “Every time I have to go somewhere for a show, I am not allowed to pack my suitcase. I haven’t done a show in a month because I hate leaving the house”.
The clip was filmed by one of her twin boys.
Karlien’s last post on her IG was one in which she dedicated a song she wrote for Derick, known as the “Liefling van Loftus.” The lyrics featured the words in Afrikaans: “Getting used to people taking sides. But you will always be His darling.”
“One of the more difficult days,” she told her followers.

DERICK HOUGAARD EX-WIFE DEFENDS HERSELF
After news broke of Derick Hougaard’s health condition earlier this month, Karlien Jaarsveld shared an Instagram Story reacting to an article written by The South African.
The mom-of-four insisted that she had discovered news of her ex’s condition on the same day as the public did.

Karlien also responded to comments from followers who wished her well. She said in Afrikaans: “I always believe in the truth that prevails even though it is also many years after… No one knows our path.”

Speaking to Rapport, Karlien added: “My focus is on assisting the twins through this difficult time. We are praying for his recovery”.
