Derick Hougaard’s ex-wife Karlien van Jaarsveld has shunned news of his health, deleting concerned comments off her social media accounts.

Karlien van Jaarsveld has been keeping a low profile after news broke that her ex – former Springboks player Derick Hougaard – has been in a coma for over a week.
The Afrikaans singer and the rugby player were married from 2013 -2015 and share twin boys, Eliah and Daniel.
However, the exes split on bitter terms after making headlines over their public spats, particularly over their children.

DERICK HOUGAARD HEALTH: WHAT HAPPENED?
According to Netwerk24, Derick has been in a coma for six days in a Pretoria hospital.
A source told the publication that the 40-year-old had “went to sleep” and “hadn’t woken up.” His partner, Afrikaans singer Nadine, called an ambulance to his Pretoria East home on Friday, 9 June.
The source said Derick had “inflammation of the lungs and is very ill.”

On the same day news broke of Derick Hougaard’s health condition, Karlien posted a clip of her four children playing.
In addition to her twins, Karlien has a daughter Elah and son Johannes with her second husband, Joe Breytenbach.
“A voyage of discovery,” she captioned the clip. However, Karlien – who has also been posting regularly on her social media accounts – has shunned news of the father of her eldest sons.
Karlien even deleted several comments off her Instagram and Facebook accounts about Derick Hougaard.
“How is Derick?” asked several followers. Others urged her to take the boys to visit his dad in hospital.

Julian Lombard: “Hope you received the news about who is fighting for his life and is in a coma. Take his sons to greet him.”
The South African contacted Karlien’s manager – mom Ronel Brink for comment. None was received at time of publishing.
