Cyril Ramaphosa engages with three SA stars in Paris [watch]

On 23 June, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his pride on Twitter and said he had engaged three Mzansi creatives in Paris.

On Friday, 23 June, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the French Republic and to his surprise, he got the opportunity to rub shoulders with three Mzansi creatives and said he spent some time with them and got to know them better. Oprah Singer Pretty Yende, fashion designer David Tlale, and clothing brand owner Thebe Magugu have since taken to their social media pages to show gratitude for having met the president. (


In a video posted on his timelines, Cyril Ramaphosa can be seen meeting the three local artists in Paris. In a Tweet, the president tagged the trio and let the world know just how proud he was of them for representing Mzansi with their talents. He said,

“One of the highlights of my working visit to the French Republic was meeting with some of our creatives who are doing amazing things around the world. It was such an honour to spend time with them and hear about their journeys as they continue to place South Africa firmly on the world stage.”

Earlier this year, Pretty Yende also flew the flag high for Mzansi when she performed at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in Westminister Abbey, Sowetan LIVE reported. The 38-year-old Opera singer was said to have made history with her performance and became the first African to ever perform a solo at the coronation of a British monarch.

Yende who was in Paris for her eminent Juliette French debut got the chance to meet Ramaphosa face-to-face. Soon after, she took her excitement to Instagram and said,

“An afternoon with My President. An extremely extraordinary meeting.”

Meanwhile, David Tlale and Thebe Magugu were in the city of love to attend Paris Fashion Week. They two met the African National Congress President. Magugu has not posted anything about his encounter with Ramaphosa yet, however, Ntlale on the other hand decided to share his experience of meeting the South African president and said,

“Meeting Mr President @cyrilramaphosa was an absolute honour. Our Mission is to globalize the South African Business of Fashion… with more emphasis on investment. The creative sector can drive change, unity, and economic growth within the continent to the world. Thank you for listening and engaging us Mr. President.
