Khanyi Mbau vs Zodwa Wabantu: Boxing match details confirmed

South Africa’s Queen of Bling, actress, and reality TV star Khanyi Mbau will be stepping into the boxing ring to exchange leather with controversial dancer and socialite Zodwa Wabantu – real name Zodwa Rebecca Libram at the Ridge Hotel in Mpumalanga on 22 October, SowetanLIVE reported.

According to the publication, promoter, Arnold “Squire” Nododile confirmed the boxing match details between Zodwa Wabantu and Khanyi Mbau. He was quoted as saying, “This will be the first-ever female celebrity exhibition boxing match-up in the African continent since such fights have become part and parcels of the evolution of boxing around the globe.” Tickets are available at computicket for as little as R250 for general tickets, R400 for ringside tickets, and R1000 for VIP tickets. Other opponents will also be stepping into the ring on the night.

Mapule Ngubane from South Africa will fight against Charuty Mukami Mujwiri who comes from Kenya. South African opponent Sazisiwe Simon will go against Pamela Matunga who is from Zimbabwe. Matshidiso Mokatsane from the Free State will go against Monalisa Takane who is from the Eastern Cape, and lastly, Asanda Simelane from North West will go head-to-head with Nomfundo Xaba from KwaZulu-Natal.

It is no secret that Khanyi Mbau and Zodwa Wabantu have had an interesting relationship over the years. It all started when the Queen of Bling was still married to her baby daddy, wealthy businessman, Mandla Mthembu with Zodwa Wabantu third-wheeling in her marriage.

According to Savanna News, in a previous interview with podcaster MacG – real name Macgyver Mukwevho, The Wife actress is said to have opened up about the strange dynamic in her relationship with Mandla Mthembu versus the relationship he had with Zodwa Wabantu who had allegedly become his side chick while she was pregnant with her daughter.

“I worshipped him, I saw him as my hero he saved me, he gave me all I dreamt about, [and] he was like a god to me. Mandla and I never had a normal conversation with each other just to say, what do you like? How are you feeling? What hurts you? We would always talk about fashion, cars, what’s the next location, and whose party are we going next to… When I was eight months pregnant, I couldn’t run around [and] that’s when I realized that I was in trouble,” Mbau was quoted as saying.

“When I was pregnant, at times I never wanted to be touched, [and] that [was] the gap that Zodwa found and filled. She gave him stuff that I couldn’t give him. They had conversations that we never had, and they bonded for real. For us, he always wanted to impress me all the time, but with Zodwa it was real They sat in her garage, [and] their love was real. Remember, this guy is a guy from the hood who just managed to bump into millions,” the Queen of Bling was quoted as saying.
