‘I gasped’: Gucci gifts Bonang Matheba bag worth R100k [photos]

Gucci gifted Bonang Matheba a ‘Bamboo 1974’ bag worth over R100 000. She showed off the bag on Twitter and had her fans happy for her.

Unprovoked, media personality Bonang Matheba took to Twitter on 10 May to show off her Gucci present and left her online fans and followers gasping.

Bonang has proved that she is THAT girl! She recently received a one-of-a-kind surprise from her friends at Gucci which gifted her the Bamboo 1947 handbag. The bubbly media personality also showed her 5.5 million Twitter followers the kind letter that came with the bag which read,

“Dear Bonang, the Gucci Bamboo 1947 represents the houses, creativity, and heritage in craftsmanship. A timeless bag with elegant style. We hope you enjoy.”

According to the Gucci website, the Bamboo 1947 handbag retails for $5 300 which about R101 810.56 when converted into rands. The bag was made in Italy and weighs 1.96kg. It comes with two detachable straps and has a cotton linen lining. After seeing Matheba’s Gucci gift, her fans, and Twitter followers rushed to the comment section and gushed over the bag’s beauty.

In 2022, Matheba also secured the bag with another luxury retailer when she and Steve Madden launched a summer collection, Mail & Guardian reported.  As part of the brand’s build-up in celebrating 10 years in Africa, Matheba reportedly made history as the first-ever African to ever collaborate with the high-end brand.
