The drama between Babes Wodumo’s family — the Simelanes — and her late husband Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo’s maternal family has not ended.

Last week, before allegedly being hospitalised, Mampintsha’s mother Zamanguni Gumede expressed her unhappiness with how her daughter-in-law was grieving her son.

While The Wololo hitmaker’s sister Nondumiso Simelane defended the singer in an interview with TshisaLIVE on Wednesday 11 January, she has told Zimoja that her family does not believe Zamanguni is sick.

According to Nondumiso, Pinky — who is the late Big Nuz group member’s sister — would have informed the Simelanes if her mother was indeed sick.

“If she was really sick, Pinky would call us and tell the family. Why has no one phoned us?” Nondumiso asked.

Babes Wodumo’s sister also ripped into Pinky’s character, labelling her “evil”.

“Pinky has a big problem. She is the evil sister-in-law that nobody wants. She wanted to choose a wife for Mandla and when that didn’t happen, she made sure she made life difficult for everyone.”

She told the publication that Pinky is claiming Babes Wodumo’s family has received a lump sum following Mampintsha’s passing.

“Babes even tried to make peace with the mother-in-law, but Pinky got in the way of that. Babes sent groceries during the funeral arrangements, but she is still ungrateful. She is going around telling people we received Mandla’s life cover, but we didn’t,” she added.

According to Pinky, however, the Simelanes know that her mother is in hospital.

“I heard that the Simelane family knows that she is in hospital, but I am afraid of being the one that calls them and behaves as though I am harassing them.

“I don’t know what we have done to them. We are not greedy people; I just want her to be okay so she can deal with her son’s death. Even the new teeth that Mandla put on her are starting to rot and the doctor needs to remove them, but he can’t because we don’t have money,” Pinky explained.

When her mother was reported to have been admitted, Zimoja revealed that she, too, had a minor stroke.

Mampintsha passed away on 24 December after suffering a minor stroke.

But, Pinky has now given an update, saying her mother has TB.

“Last week she could not walk or speak, today she looks much better. She is definitely getting better. She is eating and taking medication. We just need results so she can be able to take the correct treatment for the specific TB.We will know after receiving the new batch of blood tests,” she said.
